Panayiotis Evagorou

His name is well known throughout Europe and has fought with the world’s best Sanshou and Pro-Sanda Fighter’s.

Nick Evagorou was the only British Sanshou Athlete to be selected to compete at the Beijing Wushu Tournament 2008, which ran along side the Beijing Olympics Games. He achieved 3rd place. (Bronze).

Nick started learning Ryushinkan Karate at the age of 11 under European Chief Instructor Peter Connolly. He studied this for approximately 2 years before a young athletics career dominated his early teens.

In 1995 he changed to Chinese martial arts with Grandmaster Meng Kwong Loke’s successful Ren Yi Wu Kwan Tang Sou Dao School. He trains and studies under Master Adam Goward (6th Duan).

To broaden his knowledge further in Chinese Martial Arts, Nick studied Tiger & Crane, a southern style of Kung Fu. This he did for several years.

Nick entered his first National Sanshou Full Contact Competition at the age of 20 where he achieved his 1st Gold medal.

In the same year Nick achieved his 1st Degree (Ee Duan) Black Belt in Tang Sou Dao. This gave him new enthusiasm to teach and with encouragement from his Masters and instructor courses he had undertaken, he set up his own school.

His school to date has over 40 members of all ages from 5 years to 56 years, 11 of which have already achieved their Black Belt (Duan Grade) level. Some are also instructors and assistant instructors. Nick has entered many of his students in National Competitions where they have achieved 1st and 2nd place. Nick himself has won many Tang Sou Dao National events too.

Nick took his Master’s grading examination in 2009 where he is now Honoured to be titled Shi Fu (Master) 4th Degree Black Belt (Ser Duan).

Nicks development in Chinese Martial Arts since the age of 20 has influenced him to continue to train for competitions in Sanshou. He has frequently competed at the European Wushu Tounaments and the International Wushu Tournaments.

The team selections of these events are the winners of the National Sanshou Championships, selected by the governing body.

He is also a regular competitor at the World Kung Fu (wushu) Championships held every year in Perugia, Italy.

Nick has represented Great Britain in many different countries which include: Portugal; Sweden; Russia; Italy; China; Poland; Canada; and the most prestigious event at The 2008 Beijing Olympics Games.
